ISO 14001 Environmental Management

The environment is the setting in which an organization operates and includes air, water, soil, natural resources, plant and animal communities, and human beings. The protection of this environment and its interrelated systems has been increasingly challenged due to advancing technology and industrialization. Factors such as rapid population growth, accelerated technological development, shrinking living spaces, environmental degradation, and noise pollution have made environmental pollution a major issue that threatens human life.

Environmental problems and pollution have become a significant threat to humanity, particularly since the second half of the 20th century. Initially perceived at a local level, these issues have gradually gained an international dimension and begun to affect the entire world. In response, environmental standards and legal regulations have been implemented to reduce environmental damage. The ISO 14000 series, published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), focuses on environmental protection standards and aims to reduce the use of natural resources and minimize environmental impacts.

The ISO 14001 standard provides guidance for organizations to identify environmental aspects and reduce environmental harm. This standard enables organizations to systematically manage and reduce their environmental impacts while also ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
